Riya Arvinda Barde, Riya Barde, Arohi Barde, or Banna Sheikh- multiple names…just one one girl. Reportedly, the Maharashtra Police finally arrested Bangladeshi adult film star Riya Arvinda Barde in Thane’s Ulhasnagar on September 26, after getting a tip-off that triggered a year-long investigation. As per PTI, the adult star was arrested for forging fake documents to stay in India. However, it was the said tip-off that was received by the Hill Line police station, which brought Riya’s cheating forward. The arrest was made ‘under IPC sections related to cheating and forgery along with the Foreigners Act’. However, who is Riya Barde? Let’s take a look.

Who Is Riya Barde?

The woman, as per The Times Of India, is a porn star from Bangladesh. Riya and her family of four including herself- her mother, sister and brother- came to India after her mother Anjali Barde or Ruby Sheikh allegedly married an Indian man named Arvind Barde from Amravati. Reportedly, Riya also worked in adult films under the Raj Kundra banner. Whereas in 2023, the woman gained some fame from the film ‘Aamras’, as per IMDB. 

Currently, the police are still searching for her siblings- her brother Ravindra or Riyaz Sheikh and her sister Ritu or Moni Sheikh, whereas her parents are reportedly in Qatar. The 22-year-old was not the only one to be arrested, as eight other women were also arrested along with Riya over their illegal stay in India.As per reports, it was Riya’s friend who found out about her Bangladeshi connections and reported the same to the police.

This is not the first time that the porn star went behind bars, as earlier, she was also arrested in a prostitution case under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act by the Mumbai Police. Coming back to the investigation that revealed Riya’s cheating, inconsistencies in her birthplace on major certificates like her birth certificate and school leaving certificate only created further loopholes in her story. As per her birth certificate and school leaving certificate, she was born in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas and Hooghly respectively. Meanwhile, her birthplace reportedly changed to Maharashtra's Amravati as per her Passport.
