From landlords taking full-fledged interviews to the snarling traffic that often continues for hours, immigrants face quite a few challenges in the bustling city of Bengaluru. One of its most common problems is the language barrier that people often face if they are not well-versed in the Kannada language. Social media is full of stories where netizens narrate their ordeal related to the same issue. A similar suggestion joined the bandwagon where a woman made some suggestions that might help the auto drivers in gelling well with the non-Kannada-speaking population of the city. The post was shared on social media site X (formerly Twitter), which went viral. The people were left divided as some agreed with her idea, while others opposed it.

The post was made by X user 'Dravisha', which read, "Idea for Bangalore autos: Instead of expecting folks to speak Kannada and have rude posters, here’s something that might work better: — Have small posters/placards inside the autos that can help us learn basic phrases (Ex: How much is the fare? Can you take a left? etc.) — Have polite and warm phrases asking folks to speak to the drivers in Kannada — Add numbers on how Kannada is dying to showcase the passion to protect it Low-key hoping Namma Yatri helps implement this."

In the post, the woman suggested that auto drivers can keep posters or placards with common Kannada phrases written on them. The practice can help people in speaking to the drivers when it comes to basic questions like the inquiry of the ride's fair. She also suggested that the posters can use greeting terms to make the practice sound further polite.

The X post went viral and left the internet divided. Some people called it practical and pointed out the ease that the suggestion can offer. But other netizens believed that people can try and learn the basics of the language on their own without troubling the drivers.

Taking the comment section, the people shared their views. "Idea for people coming to Bengaluru: Instead of ‘rudely’ expecting auto drivers to teach you the language, do the bare minimum of learning basic phrases in Kannada using the internet before/while getting into the auto," a user said. "The same can be done by the passenger and searching in Google .. Let the initiative start from them not the other way around," added a second person. "Probably one of the most sensible takes on the issue that I have come across. But then again- why can the passengers not use Google translate to do the same i.e. learn basic phrases?" said a third.
