Women Reservation Bill 2023: September 29 will go down in history as one of India’s greatest feats in the field of politics as far as women empowerment is concerned. With President Droupadi Murmu’s approval of the Women's Reservation Bill, women will get a 33 per cent reservation in Lok Sabha and State Assembly. The Act officially introduced as Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, received Cabinet approval on September 20, where the bill was favoured by 454 MPs, while 2 MPs were against it. The leaders against the Act were in favour of women sub-quota for Other Backward Class (OBC) and minority communities. As soon as the bill turned into an Act, social media witnessed a wave of praise and appreciation from the citizens and netizens who were celebrating the massive feat. 

Taking to social media, most people hailed the new law and appreciated the Modi-led NDA Government for their quick steps on the much-needed law. Some, on the other hand, also dubbed it as one of the most praised masterstrokes by the Modi Government. A few people also pointed out that the law was brought just before the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, which will determine BJP’s fate for the next five years.

“President's assent to Women's Reservation Bill. After 28 years of introduction, the bill has finally become a law. It will come into effect only after 2029. But the sincerity of the parties will be known now. Even if the law does not come into force, it remains to be seen how many women will be given tickets in 2024,” said a fourth person. 

“Thank you Honourable PM Shri @narendramodi ji,” said a fifth person.
