World Cup 2023: An unexpected surprise by the Dutches took over the cricket world during this year's ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, when the Netherlands won against South Africa. Beating the South Africa national cricket team by 38 runs yesterday, October 17, the Netherlands national cricket team left many stunned. Turning the table on the ground of Dharamshala during the game, the country clinched its first victory after brutally getting defeated by Pakistan and New Zealand in their first two matches. As soon as the nation won the match, a wave of shock took over the cricket fans, meanwhile, the Netherlands supporters started celebrating the win like crazy. Amid all this, the South African cricket team captain for this year’s World Cup, Temba Bavuma, also came into the limelight, but for a different reason altogether. A picture of Bavuma wrapped in a towel went viral on social media and the netizens lost it. The cricketer was wrapped in a towel due to the weather in Dharamshala as he watched his team struggle against the Netherlands. Grabbing the opportunity in an instant, the fans were quick to share memes and all kinds of jokes on the viral picture as they dubbed it ‘meme material’. 

This is the 13th edition of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, which is being hosted by India. It began on October 05 and will culminate on November 19. Out of the 48 scheduled matches, the participating teams have played 15 matches so far. The next most-awaited match, Afghanistan vs New Zealand, will be played today, October 18, in Chennai’s Muthiah Annamalai Chidambaram Stadium. Meanwhile, the Netherlands will play its next match against Sri Lanka, whereas South Africa will lock horns with England on October 21. 

Taking to the internet, people were quick to share memes and jokes on the player. Many also compared the South African team’s performance against the Netherlands and cracked jokes on the matter. Some also shared Shayaris on the viral picture.
