A YouTuber sparked outrage by giving away beer to people in Kankhal, Haridwar, an area where alcohol is prohibited. The event, captured on camera and uploaded online, spurred religious groups and community leaders, including the Tirtha Purohit Samaj, to seek legal action against the individual.
Ankur Chaudhary, a YouTuber, is seen in this video going around Haridwar giving out beer to earn likes and comments on social media. He can be heard saying in this video, “I was receiving so much love from Kankhal residents so I wanted to reciprocate it. Your brother has brought a gift for you.”
Following his remarks, he conceals the beer bottles behind the bushes beside the road while indicating their location. Notably, alcohol and non-vegetarian food are prohibited in Haridwar's Kankhal area.

Additional videos on Ankur Chaudhary’s Instagram reveal him giving out beer in several Haridwar locales.
Ankur was observed standing with a carton of beer cans next to his BMW bike. He gave away the alcohol after taking a shirtless photo with it. Even though he didn't give the cans to anyone, he did dump them behind the bushes and use his camera to let people know where they could find them.
The viral video prompted police action. The influencer was reportedly taken into custody for allegedly breaking the rules by bringing the alcohol into the dry area and serving it to people there.
It was discovered that the influencer had either erased or archived the video from his Instagram profile, allowing viewers to view just days 2 and 3 of his beer challenge.
Youtuber Ankur Chaudhary Apologises
On June 19, a day after posting the beer challenge Day 4 video, he recorded a video to convey his regret for the events in Haridwar. He claimed that he was ignorant that the location in his previous reel, Kankhal, was a dry zone that did not allow alcoholic beverages such as beer. He reflected on the incident and apologised.
