Pakistan conducted airstrikes on multiple areas in Afghanistan's Paktika province on Tuesday, targeting a Taliban training facility. The strikes hit seven villages, including Laman, where five family members died, and Murg Bazaar, which was completely destroyed. These attacks have worsened Afghanistan's humanitarian crisis and led to civilian casualties.

The Afghan caretaker government condemned the airstrikes and vowed retaliation, escalating tensions between the two nations. "The Barmal district of Paktika was bombed by the Pakistan Army yesterday. Most of the victims were civilians, including Waziristani refugees. Several were martyred or injured, including children," the country's Ministry of Defence (MoD) said in a statement.

The Taliban's Ministry of Defence has vowed retaliation after the airstrike on Barmal, Paktika, condemning the attack as an infringement on Afghanistan's sovereignty. They claimed that 'Waziristani refugees' were among the casualties and emphasised their right to defend their land.

The Afghan Defense Ministry posted on X, stating that unilateral actions by Pakistan are not a solution to any problem.

“The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan condemns the bombing and considers this barbaric act to be a clear aggression and contrary to all international principles. The Pakistani side should know that such arbitrary actions are not, the solution to the problems,” the statement read.

Spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid also reported that Pakistan's airstrikes on Tuesday targeted four areas in the Barmal district, Paktika province, killing 46 people, mostly women and children.

Border tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan have risen since the Taliban took power in 2021, with Pakistan accusing the Taliban government of harbouring militants who carry out attacks on Pakistani soil.
