Maulana Kashif Ali, the political wing leader of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), was assassinated outside his residence in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The attack, carried out by unidentified assailants on a motorcycle, left Ali dead at his doorstep. He was a key figure in the political arm of LeT and the brother-in-law of Hafiz Saeed, India's most wanted terrorist.

Ali played a crucial role in the political operations of Lashkar-e-Taiba and was closely associated with the Pakistan Markazi Muslim League, a political party established in 2024 by Hafiz Saeed. His assassination has sparked widespread speculation and concern within extremist circles, as it marks the fourth such incident in the past month.

Lashkar-e-Taiba, designated as a terrorist organisation by India, the United States, and multiple other nations, has been responsible for major terrorist attacks, including the 2008 Mumbai attacks. Despite its global condemnation, LeT has continued to operate within Pakistan, often under different names.

Ali’s assassination has sent shockwaves through the ranks of Lashkar-e-Taiba, with growing paranoia among its members. This is the latest in a string of mysterious deaths involving LeT operatives, including two fatalities in a recent road accident. Some reports suggest that a targeted campaign might be underway to eliminate key figures within the terrorist network.

In the aftermath of Ali’s death, supporters have taken to social media, openly expressing their condolences and outrage.  The assassination of Maulana Kashif Ali highlights the ongoing instability within terrorist organisations operating in Pakistan.
