Baloch Liberation Army Claims Capture Of 17 Pakistani Security Personnel; Sets 7-Day Deadline For Prisoner Exchange

The armed rebellion group, Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), has claimed that it captured 17 members of Pakistani security forces during what it described as the second phase of “Operation Harof.”

In a statement, BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch said that 10 of the detained personnel have been released, while seven remain in the group’s custody. According to the outfit, those released were members of the Baloch ethnic community and were affiliated with the local police system. The group said they were freed after being issued a warning.

Seven Remain In Custody

The BLA stated that the fate of the remaining seven detainees, whom it described as regular members of the Pakistani military, would depend on a possible prisoner exchange. The group has reportedly set a seven-day deadline for any negotiations to take place.

In its statement, the BLA claimed that the detained personnel were presented before what it called a “Baloch National Court,” where they were charged with alleged involvement in actions against civilians, enforced disappearances, and other serious violations. The group asserted that evidence was presented and statements were recorded before announcing convictions.

Warning Issued

The group further alleged that previous exchange proposals had not received any response. It warned that if no concrete progress is made within a week, action would be taken against the remaining detainees.

There has been no immediate response from Pakistani authorities regarding the claims.
