Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who in currently in India after fleeing her country, hasn’t sought asylum anywhere and the reports that she was awaiting confirmation in this regard are untrue, her son Sajeeb Wazed said while talking to NDTV. Wazed, who is based in Washington, said his mother was anyways pondering retirement and would now spend time with her family members.
"The reports about her requesting asylum are incorrect. She has not requested asylum anywhere. So the question of UK or US not responding yet is not true," he said on being asked about UK’s silence on Hasina’s asylum request.

On US visa revocation, he said there was no such discussion with the former.
Wazed is frequently making TV appearances since his mother flew to India after relinquishing her post owing to the pressure by the Army. He said his family was now planning to spend time together. "I am in Washington, my aunt is in London, my sister lives in Delhi, so we don't know, she might travel between the places," he said.
Notably, Hasina resigned from the post of PM and fled Bangladesh using aircraft provided by Bangladesh armed forces. She landed at Hindon Airbase providing ‘very short notice’ to the Indian government.
With the government still to reveal the duration of her stay, speculation about her ultimate destination is rife. Several countries, such as the US, UK, and even Finland, have been mentioned.
As many as 400 persons have so far been killed in unprecedented violence that erupted in Bangladesh over a month back againt quota system. Initially fuelled against the quota system introduced by the Supreme Court, the furore soon turned against Sheikh Hasina seeking her removal from the post of the PM.

As per reports, the Bangladesh is likely to see an interim government, which is likely to be led by Economist and Nobel laureate Mohammad Yunus.
