Former US President Barack Obama on Saturday asserted that he believed in the existence of aliens. However, Obama further clarified that he had no idea where they actually exist. While talking in a podcast hosted by YouTuber Brian Tyler Cowen, the former US president assured that the aliens were not being kept in Area 51, debunking the conspiracy theories related to the highly protected region. He also slammed the US President Donald Trump (without taking names) for the disrespectful social media post shared lately.
On being asked about his opinion on the existence of aliens, Obama stated that he believed that the aliens exist. "They’re real, but I haven’t seen them," Obama told the YouTuber. However, he debunked the conspiracy theories by stating that there were no aliens in Area 51. He further jokingly said that they have not been kept in the region until the issue is "hidden from the US president".

"They’re not being kept in Area 51, there’s no underground facility, unless there’s this enormous conspiracy and they hid it from the president of the United States," Obama asserted. Cowen did not ask any follow-up questions to know what exactly Obama meant by saying that he believed in the existence of the aliens.
Apart from this, he also slammed Trump over the social media posts shared by his account showing Obama and his wife as apes. The former US president asserted that the sense of propriety and respect for the office has been lost. "There’s this sort of clown show that’s happening in social media and on television," Obama said.

"What is true is that there doesn’t seem to be any shame about this among people who used to feel like you had to have some sort of decorum and a sense of propriety and respect for the office. That’s been lost," he added.
