The US military used artificial intelligence, Claude AI, in its classified operation in Venezuela to capture Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro in early January, said a report by The Wall Street Journal. Claude AI, developed by Anthropic, is the first AI known to have been used in a classified military operation. Venezuelan leader, Maduro, was captured in a lightning raid on Caracas.

As per the report, Claude was used through a partnership between Anthropic and Palantir, which the Defence and Law enforcement department uses.

The use of AI in a military operation has provided a major credibility boost to AI companies, as it helps them with legitimacy and justifies their high investor-driven valuations.
