The priest of a Hindu temple in Canada’s Brampton was suspended by its apex body following the allegations of his involvement in spreading "violent rhetoric" during clashes on November 3. “Due To the Controversial Involvement of Hindu Sabha Priest Rajinder Parsad with the non-permitted protesters at Hindu Sabha premises on 03rd Nov 2024, Hindu Sabha is suspending Rajinder Parsad with Immediate effect,” the letter read.

The news of the temple body’s action against the priest has been shared by Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown.

Brown said Sikh Canadians and Hindu Canadians want to live in harmony, adding that people in the community should not respond to violence and hate.

"This is leadership that is helpful. The vast majority of Sikh Canadians and Hindu Canadians want to live in harmony and don’t tolerate violence. Hindu Sabha Mandir President Madhusudan Lama has suspended the pundit who spread violent rhetoric. The Ontario Sikhs and Gurdwara Council denounced the acts of violence at the Hindu Sabha on Sunday night," Brown said in the post on X.

"Remember we all have more in common than what divides us. In tense times, we can’t let the agitators fuel the flames of division. The leadership of both Sikh and Hindu communities in the GTA do not want this division, hate and violence. I am asking everyone in the community to not respond to violence and hate. Law enforcement will be there to respond. This is their job. We must continue to be the country where the rule of law is followed," he added.

For the unversed, anti-India elements orchestrated violent disruptions outside the Indian High Commission in Canada’s Brampton on Sunday. Similar disturbances were observed at consular camps in Surrey and Vancouver. These also attacked Hindu devotees at a Hindu temple in Brampton.

A widely circulated video on social media shows the assailants wielding sticks and attacking Hindu worshippers while raising slogans and carrying flags linked to the Khalistan movement.
