The Canadian government has provided relief to Indian students as well as international students. Indian students arriving in Canada will now be allowed to work for 24 hours a week. According to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, students without a campus permit in Canada will be able to work 24 hours a week.
Until now, Indian students were allowed to work for 20 hours a week without a work permit.
The majority of Indian students in Canada are from Punjab. Nearly 1.5 lakh students from Punjab go to Canada for studies, enrolling in various courses and working 20 hours a week.
With the increase in working hours, students' income will rise, and they will gain work experience along with their studies.
Recently, the Canadian government had discontinued the Student Direct Stream, which caused some unrest among students. To work, students must enroll in a college or university in Canada and obtain a SIN (Social Insurance Number). With a SIN, students will be allowed to work 24 hours a week. If a student holds two jobs, the total working hours from both jobs combined must not exceed 24 hours.
These Students Will Be Allowed To Work 24 Hours A Week:
- The student must be studying full-time at a designated learning institution.
- The student must be studying at a college or university and be enrolled in a vocational or professional training program.
- The student's course should be at least six months long, and upon completion, they should receive a degree, diploma, or certificate.
- The student must have started studying at a college or university.
- The student must have their own SIN (Social Insurance Number).
