Peel Regional Police on Wednesday announced the arrest of five additional suspects as part of an ongoing investigation. The operation also led to the seizure of four firearms and the laying of multiple charges, underscoring the department's commitment to ensuring public safety.
Four Indian-origin men have been arrested in connection with separate incidents. Bandhumaan Sekhon, 27, of British Columbia, was arrested on August 19 for a January incident. He faces charges including conspiracy, firearm possession, and possession of property obtained by crime.
Harmanjit Singh, 25, was arrested on July 4 for a May incident and is charged with extortion, assault with a weapon, and obstructing a peace officer. Tejinder Tatla, 44, was arrested on July 25 for threats made in June and is charged with extortion and unsafe firearm storage, following the seizure of three firearms. Dinesh Kumar, 24, was arrested on August 14 for a July incident. He is charged with extortion and has been released with conditions pending a court date.

20 Firearms And 11 Kg Of Meth Seized
Peel Regional Police announced on Wednesday that their Extortion Investigative Task Force (EITF), launched in 2023, has led to the arrest of 21 individuals and the laying of 154 charges.

“These incidents have included damage to property, threats of violence, and firearm-related offences. Victims of these incidents are often contacted through social media platforms, such as WhatsApp and Facebook, which allow online chat groups,” Peel police said in a news release issued on Wednesday.
Peel Police Chief Nishan Duraiappah stated that the Extortion Investigative Task Force is collaborating with law enforcement across Canada and the US and expects more arrests and charges as investigations continue.

The investigations have resulted in the seizure of 20 firearms, 11 kilograms of meth, over USD 10,000 in criminal proceeds, and the recovery of six stolen vehicles.
