Canada Gurudwara Stabbing: Two people got injured earlier on Friday in a stabbing incident at a Sikh temple in Canada's Edmonton, leading to panic among those present at the site. As per the Edmonton police, the officials have arrested a suspect, adding that a detailed probe has been launched into the matter. The injured individuals were treated by the emergency crews and are not out of danger, the authority further informed.

Suspect Created Ruckus 

As per Harmik Sehgal, a representative of the Gurdwara management, the suspect man entered the Gurdwara during the morning prayers before a wedding ceremony. The suspect began disrupting the ceremony and created a ruckus during the prayer, causing discomfort among the devotees. Suhgal further informed that the devotees tried to resolve the situation in the beginning, but he refused to cooperate.

Victims Sustained Injuries 

However, the attendants managed to subdue him after a minor confrontation and informed the police about the incident. The accused, however, stabbed two people during the scuffle, causing minor injuries. Sehgal confirmed that both victims were out of the danger.

The wedding rituals were conducted peacefully as per the pre-scheduled programme at around 10:30 am despite the violent attack. Sehgal further informed that the accused did not damage any property, especially the Sikh scriptures.

"Following today’s stabbing of two men at a Sikh temple in Edmonton, our thoughts are with those impacted. While we have no information to suggest a similar incident could occur in Vancouver, we are closely monitoring the situation and connecting with members of Vancouver’s Sikh community to offer support and help address any safety concerns. If you see anything suspicious or have an immediate safety concern, please call 911," Vancouver Police informed in a post on X.
