Shandong family viral scandal: In a shocking case that has gripped millions across mainland China, a man from Shandong province learned through DNA tests that neither of his two sons was his biological child. The revelation came after a violent confrontation in which his elder son allegedly attacked him and shouted that he was “not his father.”The story, first reported by the South China Morning Post, quoting mainland media Jimu News, has since gone viral on Chinese social media platforms, drawing more than 30 million views and sparking heated public debate about infidelity, family betrayal, and justice.

Confrontation Leads To Shocking Discovery

The man, identified as Jiang Hongtao, 45, had married his wife in 2002. Their first son, Jiang Runze, was born in 2004, and a second son came along in 2014. However, issues in the marriage increased over time. By 2022, Jiang and his wife divorced, and all marital property went to his former spouse. Jiang was left with only a car after the settlement. In September last year, Jiang’s life took a dramatic turn when his ex-wife and two sons arrived at his home demanding property and living expenses. During the heated dispute, his eldest son allegedly pushed and choked him, while shouting, “You are not my father.” The remark triggered Jiang’s suspicion.

According to the South China Morning Post, Jiang secretly collected his son’s toothbrush for a DNA test, which confirmed that he shared no biological relation with the boy. A subsequent test revealed that his younger son was also not his child. Jiang claimed that the elder son’s father was the village secretary, while the younger boy was fathered by his own cousin.

The revelations left Jiang devastated. “My ex-wife has caused tremendous harm to me,” he told local media, as quoted by SCMP. His elderly parents, equally heartbroken, lamented that the grandsons they had raised for over two decades were not biologically related to them. “Our hearts are broken,” they said. Seeking justice, Jiang filed a lawsuit against his ex-wife, demanding a refund of 300,000 yuan (USD 42,000) that he claimed to have spent on child support and education, in addition to 100,000 yuan (USD 14,000) for emotional damages.

Legal Battle And Court Decision

The legal proceedings featured both sides presenting sharply conflicting positions. Jiang’s eldest son questioned the DNA test results, claiming they had been tampered with by Jiang’s current wife. His ex-wife accepted compensation for emotional damages according to local legal standards, but refused to pay back child support. She also aimed to cancel their divorce agreement, arguing that the settlement needed to be reassessed. Despite the contestation, the court confirmed that neither of the two boys was biologically related to Jiang. On August 24, Jiang’s elder son, Runze, posted a video acknowledging that the court had ruled in Jiang’s favour. In the same message, Runze stated that he, his younger brother, and their mother had severed ties with Jiang’s family. He also expressed best wishes for Jiang and his current wife, adding: “I only hope they treat my grandparents well.”

The case has ignited a storm of reactions on Weibo and other platforms. Many netizens expressed strong sympathy for Jiang, describing him as the ultimate victim of betrayal. One widely shared comment read, “Jiang raised two sons who were not his for 22 years; in the end, one of them still wanted his money.” Another user echoed this sentiment, saying, “I support Jiang in seeking justice. The one most to blame is the unfaithful ex-wife.” The case has also sparked broader discussions in China about parental rights, emotional trauma from betrayal, and the legal consequences of infidelity.
