Coldplay concert incident:  New York-based artificial intelligence firm Astronomer has made an announcement stating that its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Andy Byron, has been put on leave following a viral social media video in which he and the firm's HR Head, Kristin Cabot, featured, creating wide scrutiny. The scandal broke when a video displayed Byron and Cabot hugging each other at a Coldplay concert at Gillette Stadium in Boston. The intimate hug was caught on the concert's "kiss cam" and broadcast onto giant screens, sparking rumors of an alleged affair.

As the video was widely shared online, there were many who questioned Byron's conduct, particularly since he is married to Megan Kerrigan Byron. After the incident, Ms Kerrigan was said to have deleted her surname from her Facebook profile, fuelling marriage tension rumors.

Board Launches Formal Investigation into Affair Allegations

Officially, in a statement on X (formerly Twitter), Astronomer confirmed that its Board of Directors has initiated a formal investigation into the claims. "Cofounder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy is working as interim CEO since Andy Byron has been put on leave. We will provide more information as necessary in the next few days," the statement said. The firm further stated that Byron had not made a public comment yet and refuted reports to the contrary.

Kristin Cabot, who was appointed as the Astronomer's Head of HR in November 2024, has also been sent on leave. The company made it clear that another staff member, Alyssa Stoddard, was erroneously named as the woman featured in the video and did not attend the event. Byron and Cabot are in talks to leave the company, Axios reported. The delay in Astronomer's response was attributed to Byron's "slow resignation and exit package negotiations," the report stated. Astronomer reiterated its dedication to upholding its company standards and culture. "Our leaders are charged with setting the standard in both behavior and accountability," the company stated. Astronomer ended its release by giving assurance to stakeholders that it will issue further updates as the investigation continues.
