Instant messaging and social media app Telegram on Tuesday briefly vanished from Apple App Store search results, leaving users deeply confused. A wave of online speculation erupted worldwide as the removal came shortly after a viral post from Telegram's official X account.
Telegram Briefly Removed From Apple App Store
On Monday, Telegram had made a post from its official X account, which stated, “crazy that we’re gonna get GTA 6 before the full Epstein files.” The post quickly went viral, racking up thousands of reactions just before the app's brief disappearance from the App Store. Many users quickly connected the two events, claiming that the social media post may have provoked the removal.

A user wrote, “This tweet got you removed from the Apple App Store." Another commented, “What are the odds? Telegram posts about the Epstein files…then gets pulled from the App Store. I’m sure the timing means absolutely nothing.” Another user commented, “Epstein attacks again." A third user added, “This is why they took you off the App Store, man.”

However, these theories remain completely unverified as neither Apple nor Telegram has indicated that the post played any role in the outage. The App store page returned after a few hours, with reports suggesting that direct search results remained inconsistent for some users.
Why Was The App Removed?
Meanwhile, Apple issued clarification, stating that it had briefly removed the messaging app from its App Store after a review found content that violated its guidelines "prohibiting child sexual abuse material." The company said it restored the app after "the developer promptly removed the content and banned the user who posted it," as reported by Reuters.
Telegram also reacted to its brief disappearance from the App store on X. It said, “Reports of my demise are greatly exaggerated.” Notably, this is not the first time that Apple has taken down the Telegram app from the App Store. Earlier in 2018, the company had temporarily delisted both Telegram and its experimental Telegram X client after discovering that inappropriate and illicit material was circulating through the platform's public channels.
