In a surprising twist, Elon Musk's own AI system, Grok, flagged none other than its creator as a significant spreader of misinformation on the platform. This occurred when user Gary Koepnick asked Grok who spreads the most misinformation on the platform. Grok responded that, based on analyses, sentiment, and reports, Musk has been identified as one of the most significant sources since acquiring X.
X user Gary Koepnick questioned the AI chatbot, asking, “Did Elon Musk spread misinformation to billions of people?”
“Yes, there is substantial evidence and analysis suggesting that Elon Musk has spread misinformation on various topics, including elections, to a very large audience through his social media platform, X (formerly known as Twitter)," Grok answered.
Grok followed up with a detailed breakdown to support its claims, listing key examples that highlight Elon Musk's role in spreading misinformation on X.

“Musk’s posts related to elections, which have contained misleading or false claims, have amassed billions of views. For example, an analysis by the Center for Countering Digital Hate found that Musk’s election-related misinformation had been viewed more than 2 billion times on X in the run-up to the 2024 election," Grok added.

Elon Musk Accused Of Spreading Election Misinformation To Support Trump
Several media reports have also alleged that Elon Musk has played a significant role in spreading misinformation related to the US presidential election, reportedly in an effort to support Donald Trump.
A report by France 24 reveals that in the first three weeks of October alone, Elon Musk shared at least 28 false news stories on his X account, which amassed nearly 540 million views.
An NBC News analysis found that Elon Musk’s posts on X gain significantly more attention when they question the integrity of the electoral process. Reviewing over 700 of Musk’s election-related posts since July, NBC discovered that posts expressing suspicion or promoting conspiracy theories about voting attracted notably higher engagement, including likes, comments, and reposts, compared to his other election-related content.
