A 22-year-old Indian-origin woman from Gujarat was killed in a knife attack in Canada's Niagara region. The victim, identified as Vidhi Kalpeshbhai Meghani from Borsad in Anand district, had been living in Canada for the past four years. As per Vidhi’s father, she was stabbed by a drug dealer after she refused to pay him money.
"She fought with him and refused to pay. He attacked her with a knife...I was informed that she had died. I sent an official email to my relatives," the father told news agency IANS.

The father has requested the Canadian government to send back his daughter’s body to India.
"My daughter's name is Vidhi Kalpesh Megha. She had been there for four years. I have a request to the government: my daughter's body should be sent to India as soon as possible," he said.
Earlier, the father had told media that Vidhi had gone to study business management in Canada.
"My daughter had gone there to study business management, and her 3-year course has been completed. She went on to pursue a PSW (Personal Support Worker) Honours course. My brother-in-law lives there, and her mother and father are also currently there... Our local MLA visited us just recently. My request to the government is that we must perform my daughter's final rites right here in India; therefore, please provide me with the body as soon as possible and send it here," Medha told reporters.
According to reports, the incident took place on May 15. Canadian police have registered a case and launched an investigation. The attack reportedly took place when she was stepping out of her residence. She was allegedly confronted by a man who attacked her with a sharp-edged weapon before fleeing the scene. The incident occurred in a public area.

Suspect Held
Bystanders rushed the critically injured woman to a nearby hospital, but she was declared dead by doctors on arrival. Police later began a search operation and detained a suspect in connection with the case. The motive behind the attack remains unclear as of now.
