German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has voiced unflinching support for Israel’s ongoing attacks on Iran, describing them as essential and justified amid escalating tensions in the Middle East. Speaking on the sidelines of the 51st G7 Summit in Kananaskis, Alberta, Merz said, “This is the dirty work Israel is doing for all of us. We are also victims of this regime. This mullah regime has brought death and destruction to the world.”

His remarks came during interviews with German broadcasters ZDF and Welt, as drone and missile exchanges between Iran and Israel continue to intensify. The chancellor emphasised that Israel’s campaign is not just self-defence but a broader strike against a regime that poses a global threat.

Tehran Leadership Reportedly Weakened

Chancellor Merz also hinted that recent Israeli strikes may have severely weakened the Iranian regime’s grip on power. “I assume that the attacks of the last few days have already weakened the mullah regime considerably and that it is unlikely to return to its former strength,” he noted. “This regime is very weakened and may not recover. We’ll have to wait and see.”

Trump Warns Tehran On Truth Social

US President Donald Trump continued his hardline stance against Iran. In a Truth Social post on Tuesday, he warned Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei directly. “We know exactly where the so-called 'Supreme Leader' is hiding. He is an easy target, but is safe there, we are not going to take him out, at least not for now,” Trump wrote.

He cautioned against continued missile attacks, saying the US does not want American soldiers or civilians targeted, but emphasised that Washington’s patience is “wearing thin.”

Fresh Missile Attacks Reported

Iran’s state-run Tasnim news agency reported yet another wave of drone and missile strikes by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps toward Israeli territory on Tuesday. These new attacks come as fears grow of a wider regional war.

Despite the intensifying conflict, Merz affirmed that diplomatic options remain open. “If a new situation were to arise, Germany, France and the United Kingdom would again be prepared to provide diplomatic assistance, as they were until last Thursday,” he said.
