Hassan Nasrallah Death News: Israel on Saturday claimed that its strikes in Beirut last night killed Hezbollah Chief Hassan Nasrallah. "Hassan Nasrallah will no longer be able to terrorize the world," the IDF wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter). The announcement came amid confusion over Hassan Nasrallah's death, after Israel on Friday night launched one of the biggest airstrikes in Lebanon since the start of the conflict last week, targeting the headquarters of Hezbollah in south Lebanon's Beirut suburbs.

However, Hezbollah is yet to make any announcement regarding the death of Hassan Nasrallah, who has been in hiding for years and only appears publicly through video messages from secret locations.

The Israeli military further said that another top leader of Hezbollah, identified as Ali Karaki, had also been killed alongside Hassan Nasrallah. "The Israeli military eliminated Hassan Nasrallah, leader of the Hezbollah terrorist organization," Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee wrote on X. Avichay Adraae in his statement on X said Israel had struck Hezbollah's underground headquarters while its leadership were "coordinating terrorist activities against the citizens of Israel".

Nasrallah led Hezbollah for 32 years and played a pivotal role in the growth of the Iran-backed group into a regional force that has projected Tehran's influence across the Middle East. His death would not only mark an enormous blow to Hezbollah but also to Iran, whose Revolutionary Guards founded the group in 1982.

Israel's claims that it targeted Hezbollah headquarters in south Lebanon's Beirut on Friday were met with confusion after several Iran-based news outlets including Tasnim news agency reported that he is safe. However, given the size and timing of the blast in the densely populated Dahiyeh suburb, which is known as a stronghold for the group, there were strong indications that a high-value target was inside the building at the time.

Following the news of Hassan Nasrallah's killing, the Israeli Chief of Staff said, "This is not the end of the toolbox. The message is simple, to anyone who threatens the citizens of the State of Israel - we will know how to get to them".

Lebanon's state-run National News Agency said six buildings were "levelled to the ground" by the strikes. Israel had been launching continued strikes on targets in Dahieh, saying it was targeting Hezbollah weapons stored under civilian buildings. Eyewitnesses in Beirut reported Israeli warplanes flying over the city's southern suburb and conducting several rounds of bombings within an hour in the Dahieh district.
