Another Hindu man was murdered in Bangladesh, a day before general election polling, reigniting fears among the minority communities in the country. The man, identified as Ratan Sahuakar (28) was found dead in Moulvibazar district. Sahuakar showed signs of torture as his hands and legs were tied with several injury marks on body.
Ratan Sahuakar was employed in the tea gardens of the Champa. As per a News18 report, Sahuakar’s wounds were bleeding when the body was discovered at 10 am on Wednesday.
Earlier, on January 23, a 23-year-old Hindu man was burnt alive inside his workplace in Narsingdi, Bangladesh, in a horrifying incident that his family and neighbours have described as a premeditated killing. The victim, Chanchal Bhowmik, was killed after unidentified assailants allegedly set fire to the garage where he worked and slept. According to eyewitnesses, the attacker shut the garage’s shutter from outside, poured petrol, and ignited the structure while Bhowmik was asleep inside. The assailant reportedly remained outside until the victim perished before fleeing the scene.

- On December 2, 2025, a 42-year-old jeweler, Prantosh Sarkar, was shot dead in Narsingdi.
- On December 18, 2025, 25-year-old Dipu Chandra Das was lynched by a mob in Mymensingh on charges of alleged blasphemy, and his body was later burned.

- On January 5, 2026, grocery store owner Moni Chakraborty was murdered with a sharp weapon in Palash Upazila. On the same day, Rana Pratap Bairagi, an ice factory owner and journalist, was shot dead in Jessore district.
- On January 6, 2026, Mithun Sarkar died after jumping into a canal in Naogaon district to escape charges of theft.
- On January 7,2026, freedom fighter Yogesh Chandra Roy and his wife Shubarna Roy were murdered in their home in Rangpur.
