Imran Khan death rumours: In the midst of swirling rumours about former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s health and safety, his son Kasim Khan has issued a sharp public appeal, demanding “proof of life” and immediate access to his father, who has been held inside Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail for over two years.

The claims, made in an emotional post on X, have intensified nationwide speculation after an Afghan media outlet reported, without evidence, that Khan had died in custody. Though Pakistani authorities have dismissed the reports as false, insisting the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder is in “good health”.

Kasim Says Father Held In ‘Death Cell’

Kasim Khan said it has been 845 days since the former premier was arrested, and that he has now been confined in a death cell for the last six weeks, cut off completely from family, lawyers and the outside world. “There have been no phone calls, no meetings, and no news of his well-being. My brother and I have not been able to contact our father in any way,” he wrote, adding that even Khan’s sisters were being denied access despite clear court orders.

Calling the situation “deliberate” and “inhumane”, Kasim alleged that the blackout was aimed at concealing the 72-year-old leader’s physical condition. “This complete darkness is not part of any security protocol,” he said.

Imran Khan’s sisters, Aleema Khanum and Noreen Niazi, also alleged that prison authorities have repeatedly prevented scheduled meetings, even forcing them to wait outside the jail for hours. Niazi said the family had “no verified information” about Khan’s health, claiming the situation resembled Pakistan’s “darkest period”. She also described increased restrictions near Adiala Jail, saying supporters were being forcibly dispersed.

Kasim Khan also urged international human rights organisations and democratic governments to intervene, warning that the Pakistani state and its “handlers” would be held responsible for any harm to the jailed leader. “Demand confirmation that he is alive. Enforce court-ordered access. End this inhumane isolation,” he wrote.

Authorities Deny All Allegations, Call Rumours ‘Baseless’

Adiala Jail officials, however, said the rumours were “entirely baseless”. In a written statement, the administration asserted that Imran Khan is “healthy”, remains inside Adiala Jail, and is receiving “all necessary care”. “No transfer has taken place. Social media rumours are unfounded,” the administration said.

Imran Khan has been in prison since August 2023 following convictions in corruption cases that he maintains are politically motivated. His arrest triggered nationwide protests and an unprecedented crackdown on PTI. The controversy continues to grow as the former PM’s family insists they have been left in the dark, while the state maintains that Imran Khan remains safe inside Adiala Jail.
