India has strongly condemned the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for its interference in the country’s internal affairs, specifically regarding the Kashmir issue. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) issued a firm rebuttal after the OIC Group in New York released a statement questioning India’s narrative on the tragic terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, on April 22. The attack, which led to the death of 26 civilians, mostly tourists.

The OIC’s statement, issued at the behest of Pakistan, claimed to express concern over the situation in South Asia and called for restraint and dialogue between Pakistan and India. The statement further reaffirmed the OIC's support for Pakistan’s position on Jammu and Kashmir, referring to the region as a “question.” The OIC also echoed Pakistan’s longstanding narrative that Kashmir remains the core issue for peace and stability in South Asia.
The MEA dismissed the OIC’s interference as “absurd,” particularly for refusing to acknowledge the cross-border linkages of the Pahalgam attack. According to India, the attack was orchestrated by terrorist groups operating from Pakistan, and such cross-border terrorism is a longstanding challenge. The MEA emphasised that this is not the first time Pakistan has attempted to manipulate international organisations to further its political agenda regarding Kashmir.

India’s Stand On Kashmir
The Indian government has consistently rejected Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir, calling it factually incorrect and politically motivated. The OIC’s echoing of Pakistan’s narrative is viewed by India as an attempt to internationalise an issue that remains entirely internal. India has maintained that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of its territory, and any discussion on its status should be solely between India and Pakistan.
India’s Rejection Of External Interference
MEA further said that the Indian government’s stance remains firm, it will not allow external forces to interfere in its internal matters. The MEA rejected the OIC’s involvement in the Kashmir issue, stating that such interference is unwarranted and unhelpful. India has reiterated that the solution to the Kashmir issue lies within the framework of India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and no external entity has the right to comment on the matter.
