The final of the 2025 Asia Cup featured India securing a five-wicket win over Pakistan in a closely fought match, but the process has riled up Pakistani fans. Though Pakistan's bowling attack looked impressive, Haris Rauf leaked 50 runs in 3.4 overs and was also guilty of a dropped catch, a missed run-out, and Tilak Verma's 69* off 53 balls, which ensured India's victory.

Fan reactions dominated the internet, with most questioning Pakistan's team competence. Footage from YouTubers, media outlets, and social media citizens rapidly went viral, with commentary ridiculing the national team, even suggesting that amateurs could perform better than Pakistan’s players.

One angry fan said, “Even if the whole of Pakistan wants to win against India, we can't… India was our father, and will remain our father (India hamarebaap the, baaprahenge). Our generation cannot defeat them. We are not even equal to their shoes. They did the right thing by not shaking hands with us.”

Another supporter added, “We are left disappointed again and again. This was the third match. We had some hope today, but there is no doubt India’s team is very strong.” A fan from Dubai commented, “We are not capable of winning against India. It’s a fact. India hamarebaap the aur rahenge. We cannot compete with their skill and discipline.”

Why Was Trophy Presentation Controversial?

The match was not without controversy. The presentation of the trophy was also one hour behind schedule as the Pakistan players arrived fashionably late for the ceremony. When they finally did, India rejected the trophy from Pakistan's Mohsin Naqvi. Earlier incidents, including the handshake scandal between Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav and Salman Ali Agha, and Surya skipping the captain's photoshoot, only added to increased tensions between the two cricket nations.

Though the loss was ranted and ridiculed on social media, India celebrated as Pakistanis turned to social media to express outrage, disappointment, and self-pity at the cost of their side. Experts say that the loss exposes Pakistan's areas for improvement, which include handling pressure in high-pressure games and remaining calm in do-or-die matches.
