In a unique turn of events, Vibeesh Palliyali, a Sharjah-based pickup driver, won a lottery of Dh15 million that he will be sharing with three people, bringing his share to Dh4 million (Rs 10 crore). Palliyali won the lottery after buying a raffle ticket every month for 15 years.
"I had already bought one set of tickets for Dh1,000 on February 7 when I was travelling to India," Khaleej Times quoted Palliyali.

Palliyali received the call informing him about his win when he was travelling for work. He earlier thought that the call was a regular reminder to buy a ticket, but was surprised afterwards.
"Since I am a regular customer, I usually get a call from the company. But they usually call in the middle or the end of the month, saying that there are offers on tickets. I wondered why they would call me at the beginning of the month in the evening."

As per the sources, he is set to use the amount to go back to India and settle down. Along with this, Palliyali aims to spend the amount on his daughter’s education and future.
"On February 28, my cousin and two of his friends called me asking to take a ticket with them. I tried telling them that I had already spent my budget this month, but they kept begging me. I took the ticket so as not to let them down. I purchased it at 8 pm online. That is the ticket that brought me luck."
As per Palliyali’s statement, he faced challenges buying the tickets because they were expensive for him. He highlighted that despite several complaints from his wife, he continued to buy it as a hobby.
