Amid the escalating Middle-East tension, the Indian Embassy in Israel on Friday issued an advisory to the citizens, asking them to 'stay vigilant' and 'adhere to the safety protocols' as laid down by the local authorities. As the threat of a retaliatory Iranian attack looms over the country, the Indian Embassy has further asked its nationals to remain close to the safety shelters.
The embassy further asked the Indian nationals to 'exercise caution' and avoid unnecessary travel within the country. This comes as Iran has vowed to avenge the death of the top Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, who was allegedly assassinated by Israel in a precision missile strike in Tehran two days ago. Following the death of Haniyeh, Iran called a meeting of the Axis of Resistance, an umbrella body of militias associated with Tehran.
"Please exercise caution, avoid unnecessary travel within the country and stay close to safety shelters. The Embassy is closely monitoring the situation and remains in regular touch with the Israeli authorities to ensure the safety of all our nationals," the Embassy stated in an X post while sharing several links and contact numbers.

The Embassy further asked its nationals to contact 972-547520711 or +972-543278392 in case of any emergency. This helpline will work 24x7, the Embassy added. It also asked Indian nationals who are yet to register with the Embassy to do so at a provided link.
Earlier today, Air India announced that it will halt all its current flights bound to or from Tel Aviv amid the rising tension.
"In view of the ongoing situation in parts of the Middle East, we have suspended the scheduled operation of our flights to and from Tel Aviv with immediate effect up to and including 08 August 2024. We are continuously monitoring the situation and are extending support to our passengers with confirmed bookings for travel to and from Tel Aviv during this period, with a one-time waiver on rescheduling and cancellation charges. Safety of our guests and crew remains our foremost priority," the largest Indian carrier stated on Friday.
