Ajit Singh Chaudhary, a third-year medical student from Rajasthan, who had been missing for 19 days in Ufa, Russia, has been confirmed dead. His body was discovered in a dam near the White River. The Indian Embassy in Russia informed his family of the tragic news on Thursday.
Chaudhary went to get milk from warden
Chaudhary, a student at Bashkir State Medical University, was last seen on October 19. He reportedly told friends he was going to get milk from the warden but never returned. Russian police found his jacket and mobile phone on a riverbank, followed by his shoes nearby. The White River, which was overflowing in October, is a few kilometers from his college.
Did Ajit jump into river or something fishy?
His family received a call from Russian police on October 20 after his disappearance was reported. His uncle, Bhoom Singh, expressed concerns about the warden's unresponsiveness and alleged that the warden tried to suggest Ajit had jumped into the river. Just an hour before his disappearance, Ajit had video-called his mother and sister to wish them Diwali.
Chaudhary was scheduled to return India next month
He was scheduled to return to India next month. The process of repatriating his body to India has begun, and a post-mortem will be conducted by a medical board, which may take two days for the body to arrive in India, according to Alwar Saras Dairy Chairman Nitin Sangwan.
