Months after a Sikh driver was arrested in the US in a fatal crash, another 21-year-old Indian-origin man was arrested on Tuesday after he rammed into multiple vehicles on the 10 Freeway in California. The accident was caught on the dashcam of the truck involved in the accident.

According to reports, the sikh man, identified as Jashanpreet Singh, reportedly immigrated to the US illegally in 2022. He was driving a truck under the influence of drugs, media reports claimed. He rammed his truck in Ontario, California, which left three people dead and at least four others injured.

The footage shows a semitruck slamming into the back of an SUV before plowing into multiple other vehicles in the same lane. The video is now the subject of a law enforcement investigation, ABC7 News reported. In total, eight cars were damaged in the fiery crash.

"He was eventually transported to the hospital, and he was checked out by the medical staff, and our officers determined he was driving under the influence of drugs," said CHP Ofc. Rodrigo Jimenez.

Several burned in crash

On Wednesday, Eyewitness News learned one of the victims was identified as a 54-year-old man from Upland. His name hasn't been released. The remaining two were severely burned in the crash and have not been identified. Four others were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

"For us officers, it's really horrific to see, not just the deceased person, but knowing that this person's family is going to receive the worst possible news of their life," Jimenez said.

Another Sikh arrested last month

Earlier last month, an Indian national, who had arrived in the US illegally, has been arrested for causing a multi-vehicle crash while driving a truck in California last year that critically injured a five-year old child and left her with life-altering injuries.

The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested Partap Singh last month and he will remain in ICE custody pending immigration proceedings. The agency said that in June 2024, Singh caused a multi-car pileup while driving a commercial 18-wheeler in California.

Indian national crosses in October 2022 illegally

Singh had illegally crossed the southern border in October 2022 and was “released” into the country by the Joe Biden administration, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said in a statement.
