Amid the mounting tensions in the Middle East with Israel bracing for a multi-front war, Benjamin Netanyahu said Tel Aviv was ready to deal with Iran’s “axis of evil". Speculations are rife that Israel might witness an attack from Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthis in Yemen, and Iran latest by today. This came after tensions escalated following the killing of top Hamas and Hezbollah leaders in the backdrop of the Israel-Palestine ongoing war.

A recent Israeli strike in southern Lebanon resulted in the death of top commander Fuad Shukr. Additionally, Israel has confirmed that Mohammed Deif, the head of Hamas' military wing, was killed in a July airstrike in Gaza.

Besides, Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh was killed at a Tehran guesthouse when he was in Iran to attend the swearing-in ceremony of President Masoud Pezeshkian. Though Israel did not take responsibility for the killing, Iran and several other Middle East nations believe the former had orchestrated the attack with the help of its secret service Mossad.

Reacting to the unrest and possibility of retaliation, Netanyahu said, “Israel is in a multifront war against Iran’s axis of evil. We are striking every one of its arms with great force. We are prepared for any scenario – both offensively and defensively.”

The United States has also increased its presence in the area owing to the fear of a multi-front war. Additional warships and aircraft were sent to the Middle East to deal with any untoward incident.
