Hamas and its allies, along with the the African Union, have pinned the blame for the bombing on Israel, which is currently conducting air strikes against assets of the Palestinian militant outfit in Gaza. Iran, Turkey, and Qatar have accused Israel of being responsible for the explosion that claimed the lives of nearly 500 Palestinians on Tuesday.

Hamas, which is in control of Gaza, called the hospital bombing "a horrific massacre" perpetuated by Israeli forces. Countering Israel's claims, the Islamic Jihad, a Palestinian militant movement separate from Hamas, accused Israel of "trying hard to evade responsibility for the brutal massacre it committed".
Meanwhile, the chief of African Union, Moussa Faki Mahamat, said in a statement, "There are no words to fully express our condemnation of Israel's bombing of a Gaza hospital today, killing hundreds of people. Targeting a hospital, considered a safe haven under International Humanitarian Law, is a war crime. The International Community must act now."
