After the US strike on Iranian nuclear facilities, the attacks have intensified between Iran and Israel. On Sunday, Israel targeted Iran's Bushehr province, which houses the country's sole operational civil nuclear facility. The attack was reported by the Iranian media as explosion rocked the province. The explosions were also heard at the city of Yazd in central Iran.

Bushehr nuclear power plant is run with Russian assistance with 600 Russian workers on the spot. The attack comes a day after the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the UN nuclear watchdog, warned of a nuclear disaster if it comes under attack.

On Friday, IAEA Director Rafael Grossi told the UN Security Council (UNSC) no radiation was detected from Israel's week-long military campaign against Iran, including attacks on nuclear sites.

US President Donald Trump called the strikes 'very successful' and added that further attacks will be far greater. US dubbed its mission as 'Operation Midnight Hammer.' The United States used B2 bomber with bunker busters. Iran's Atomic Energy Organisation cofirmed the strikes on nuclear sites and said that no radition was detected outside the facilities, a claim validated by IAEA.

While Israel welcomed the strikes, it saw sharp condemnation from various countries including Russia and Pakistan. Iran termed the attack as a breach of the international law. Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said that Iran will respond to the strikes in self-defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter. He added that the US strikes will have everlasting consequences.
