Dmitry Medvedev, the deputy chairman of Russia's Security Council, said on Sunday that US President Donald Trump had started a new war for the US by attacking Iran. US forces struck Iran's three main nuclear sites, Trump said late on Saturday, and he warned Tehran it would face more devastating attacks if it does not agree to peace.
"Trump, who came in as a peacemaker president, has started a new war for the US," Medvedev wrote on his Telegram channel, adding that "with this kind of success, Trump won't win the Nobel Peace Prize".
The leader of Russia's Liberal Democratic Party (LDPR), Leonid Slutsky, said the strikes "had no military reason for the US and cannot be justified under international law". "The consequences of the escalation threaten to go beyond the region. Washington understands the inevitability of Tehran's response. All this brings the spiral of confrontation to a new level and increases the risks of World War III," said Slutsky, who heads the State Duma international affairs committee.

1. Critical infrastructure of the nuclear fuel cycle appears to have been unaffected or sustained only minor damage.
Iran Confirms Sites Hit, IAEA Reports Minimal Damage
Following the US strikes, the Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran confirmed that attacks took place on its Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz sites. Criticising the US President’s decision to strike Iran, Medvedev said that Donald Trump, who came as a peacemaker president, has started a new war for the US. The remarks from the Russian politician came after the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported that the Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant suffered minimal damage in the US airstrikes, as claimed by multiple agencies.
“A number of countries are ready to directly supply Iran with their own nuclear warheads," said Medvedev in an X post, adding that the US attacks on three Iranian nuclear sites led to the opposite result from what President Donald Trump had set out to achieve.
IRGC And Supreme Leader Threaten US Response
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, in a statement broadcast on state television, warned the United States to “expect regrettable responses" following its strikes on Tehran’s nuclear facilities. Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, also warned of retaliation “without delay."
HHossein Shariatmadari, Khamenei’s representative, told Iranian media that the first step would be a missile strike on the US naval fleet in Bahrain, along with the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. “It is now our turn to act without delay. As a first step, we must launch a missile strike on the US naval fleet in Bahrain and simultaneously close the Strait of Hormuz to American, British, German, and French ships," Shariatmadari was quoted as saying by Iran International.
