A 25-year-old Russian flight attendant was found brutally stabbed to death inside a luxury five-star hotel room in Dubai, prompting an international investigation and the arrest of her former husband in Russia, officials and media reports said on Monday.

The victim, identified by Russian media as Anastasia, worked as a flight attendant with Russian low-cost carrier Pobeda Airlines. Her body was discovered in a room at the Voco Bonnington hotel in Dubai’s Jumeirah Lakes Towers area. Investigators said she had suffered at least 15 stab wounds to her neck, torso and limbs, and died at the scene.

Jealous Ex-Husband Named As Prime Suspect

Dubai Police identified the prime suspect as 41-year-old Albert Morgan, a Russian national and Anastasia’s former husband. Authorities said Morgan was arrested in St Petersburg on December 20 shortly after landing from Dubai, following a request from UAE law enforcement agencies.

According to investigators, Morgan allegedly travelled to the United Arab Emirates after stalking his ex-wife, driven by jealousy and suspicion over her work and personal life following their separation. Russian media reported that the couple had been married for nearly two years before separating, and had a history of domestic disputes.

Dubai Police reportedly tracked the suspect using hotel CCTV footage, which showed his movements inside the hotel before and after the crime. Investigators believe Morgan posed as a hotel guest, gained access to the premises and later fled the country within hours of the killing.

The murder is believed to have taken place between December 17 and 18. Anastasia’s body was found after hotel staff raised an alert when she failed to respond for an extended period.

Arrest And Custody In Russia

Upon his return to Russia, Morgan was detained and formally charged with murder. A Russian court has ordered that he be held in custody for at least two months, until February 18, while the investigation continues. Reports also claim that the suspect sought to avoid imprisonment by requesting deployment to the Ukraine conflict, a tactic previously used by some accused criminals, though the court rejected the plea.
