Britain's King Charles, less than 18 months into his reign, was diagnosed with cancer following his recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement. Buckingham Palace has not yet specified the form of cancer, however, it said the 75-year-old monarch has started treatment and remains "wholly positive". The statement from the palace read: "His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties. Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake state business and official paperwork as usual."

Supporters and detractors have always acknowledged King Charles' hard work and dedication to his duties. Royal commentators said that might be something that would have to change as he recovers from treatment. There was no indication that he had received the news about his cancer diagnosis when he appeared in public on Sunday to attend church with his wife Queen Camilla. "He's the king, he's got to put on a show and he's been doing it all his life," said Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine.
