In a shocking turn of events, over 4,500 Pakistani soldiers and 250 officers have reportedly resigned in the wake of rising fears of a potential war with India following the Pahalgam terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir. The mass desertions reflect growing concerns within the ranks of the Pakistani Army, as the Pahalgam incident exacerbates already tense relations between the two nations.

Reports suggest that in just two days, the unprecedented number of resignations has left many military posts empty, signalling a deep sense of anxiety among the troops. Particularly affected are the 12th Corps stationed along Pakistan’s western border, where nearly 200 officers and 600 soldiers have abandoned their posts. Additionally, the Northern Command Area has reportedly seen over 100 officers and 500 soldiers resign, while the Mangal Corps along the Line of Control (LoC) has reported 75 officers and more than 500 soldiers leaving their positions.

Viral Resignaton Letter And Its Impact

Amidst the reports of mass resignations, a viral letter circulating among the military has captured attention. The letter claims that the actions of Pakistani militants in Pahalgam have escalated tensions to the brink of war, prompting the desertion. The letter not only calls on soldiers to reject fear but also urges them to uphold their oath and maintain morale, emphasising the need for unity within the ranks.

The letter reads:

 - “The incident done by our Mujahideen in Pahalgam has escalated, and now there are fears of war with India, leading to huge requests for resignation and desertion among army personnel. This disinformation aims to undermine our unity and iman.”

 - “Uphold Your Oath: As Mujahideen of Pakistan, your commitment to defend the nation is sacred. Reject fear and stand firm.”

 - “Maintain Morale: Our forces remain battle-ready, as demonstrated in Operation Swift Retort. Commanding officers are instructed to conduct darbars (meetings) to reinforce the high spirit.”

 - “Call to Unity: You are the heirs of our Shuhada (martyrs). Stand united under the crescent and star. Pakistan Zindabad (Long live Pakistan)!”**

Critics of General Asim Munir’s leadership have pointed to the mass resignations as evidence of declining troop confidence and the weakening command structure within the army.

Impact Of Leadership And Morale Issues

This surge in resignations comes amid reports of growing dissatisfaction with the current leadership. Critics suggest that under General Asim Munir, the Pakistan Army has seen a dramatic decline in morale, with soldiers and officers citing a lack of confidence in the leadership’s ability to maintain order during such turbulent times.

The official websites and social media accounts of Pakistan’s Prime Minister’s Office and the Chief of Army Staff were checked, but no mention of the viral letter was found.

As tensions continue to rise, both India and Pakistan are on high alert, making this moment a critical one for both nations.
