An Indian-origin couple has donated USD 20 (approximately Rs 1,90,54,55,128) million to the University of North Texas (UNT) to establish a new College of Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Analytics. The college will focus on education and research in artificial intelligence and related fields and is expected to become a major academic and research hub.
New College Named After Sinha Couple
The couple identified as Anuradha and Vikas Sinha made the donation. However, what astonished everyone is the UNT’s announcement that the new college will be named the Anuradha and Vikas Sinha College of Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Analytics in honour of the couple. According to reports, the college will bring together academic programmes and research in AI, data analytics, cybersecurity, health informatics, information science and learning technologies.

The massive donation will also create six permanent endowments, which will support scholarships, professorships, college leadership, entrepreneurship and incubation, advanced research and emerging technologies. Vikas, who earned his doctorate in information science from UNT in 2023, said universities have an important role in preparing students for a future largely shaped by artificial intelligence.
Vikas Sinha On Donating Millions
“Artificial intelligence will be one of the defining technologies of our generation, and universities have an essential role to play in preparing the people who will shape its future,” Sinha said, as quoted by FOX 4 News Dallas-Fort Worth. He added that their contribution was also influenced by their own experience as immigrants and students in the US.
“For us, this gift is about paying that opportunity forward and recognising that immigrants don't simply participate in the American dream, they help build it,” Sinha added. Notably, the USD 20 million donation builds on the couple's earlier support for UNT's data science programmes.
Not The First Donation
Earlier in 2024, they helped establish the Anuradha and Vikas Sinha Department of Data Science. In 2025, they made another major contribution, leading to the creation of the Sinha Innovation Lab for Data Science. The couple had moved to the US after completing bachelor's degrees in civil engineering at Sri Venkateswara University in India. They later pursued graduate studies at Florida Atlantic University. Vikas Sinha also studied at Northwestern University before completing his doctorate at UNT.
Meanwhile, University President Harrison Keller said the new college supports UNT's broader strategy of responding to rapid changes in technology, employment and research.
