  3. Minaj appears with Trump at Michigan rally

Rapper Nicki Minaj has become the subject of online discussion after a video featuring her, and a senior White House official sparked rumours that she could become the next White House press secretary. The speculation grew further after she appeared along with US President Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Michigan ahead of November 3 midterm elections.

Nicki Minaj To Become White House Press Secretary?

The rumours began after Steven Cheung, the White House director of communications and assistant to the president, shared a video of himself with Minaj aboard an aircraft on X. Sharing the video, he suggested in the caption that Minaj could be the next White House press secretary, a post which currently remains vacant after Katie Zacharia resigned from the role on October 17.

Cheung wrote on X, “Ladies and gentlemen, I think we may have found the new White House Press Secretary! @NICKIMINAJ” His post quickly gained attention online as he did not clarify whether he was joking or seriously telling, leaving netizens to speculate. One user wrote, “Nicki Minaj at the podium would make every press briefing feel like a world tour.” Another user added, “Perfect choice - and let FLOTUS and her dialog together. That way the American people can disseminate their clearly spoken world views.”

Trump Apologises To Minaj

The White House's official X account also joined the discussion by posting an eye emoji, adding to the rumors. Amid the speculation, Minaj appeared at a public rally in Port Huron, Michigan with Trump. The rally got special attention as Trump made a surprising comment about Minaj's appearance while addressing. He praised her looks before quickly adding that he hoped she had not been offended.

Trump said, “I looked at one hell of a beautiful ass before, Nicki Minaj. That’s hard to miss. Stand up." He then added, “I hope Nicki wasn’t insulted," before continuing with his speech. This is not the first time that the rapper has shown support for Trump and the Republican Party. At a Turning Point USA event in December, she had praised the US President, calling herself a big fan of him.
