Israel-Iran conflict: India on Friday expressed deep concern over the rising hostilities between Israel and Iran following targeted Israeli strikes on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) released a detailed statement calling on the two countries to refrain from further escalation and talk through diplomatic and peaceful channels to de-escalate the crisis. “We are closely monitoring the evolving situation, including reports related to attacks on nuclear sites. India urges both sides to avoid any escalatory steps,” the MEA said. The ministry further informed that India has good relations with both countries and is ready to provide all necessary assistance for normalcy to be returned to the region. Indian missions in Iran and Israel are in regular contact with Indian nationals and the Indian community in both countries, the statement further said. “All Indian nationals in the region are advised to exercise caution, stay safe and follow local security advisories,” the ministry said.
Operation 'Rising Lion': Israel Confirms Iranian Nuclear Facilities Targets
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu officially declared the commencement of 'Operation Rising Lion', hailing it as a "turning point in Israel's history." The operation is intended to cripple Iran's nuclear program, with the Israeli military confirming attacks on dozens of Iranian military and nuclear facilities, including the Natanz uranium enrichment facility. “The operation will continue for as many days as it takes to neutralize the Iranian threat,” Netanyahu declared. In a dramatic turn of events, Iranian state television reported that Hossein Salami, the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), had been killed in one of the Israeli attacks. Iran's top leadership, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, then issued harsh threats of a "bitter fate" for Israel after denouncing the attacks as a United States-backed crime.

In preparation for Iranian counterattack, Israel has enforced a emergency across the country. Ben Gurion International Airport at Tel Aviv closed all departures and arrivals indefinitely. El Al Airlines, Israel's national airline, has canceled several international flights due to fears of missile and drone attacks. Thousands of Israeli soldiers have been deployed in strategic border areas, and anti-missile defense systems have been put on high alert.
Meanwhile, the United States distanced itself from direct involvement in the operation. However, Washington did acknowledge prior knowledge of Israel’s military intentions and emphasized its commitment to protecting American personnel in the Middle East.
