In a major development, India has announced an immediate ceasefire with Pakistan. This comes after a sharp and strategic response to Pakistan’s recent drone attacks. The Indian Air Force (IAF) conducted precision airstrikes on several critical Pakistani military installations.
The targeted locations included key airbases such as Rafiqui, Murid, Chaklala (now known as Noor Khan Airbase), and Rahim Yar Khan. India struck military positions in Sukkur and Chunian, as well as radar facilities in Pasrur and the Sialkot aviation base.
Only Military Sites Targeted: Indian Air Force
During a government briefing on Saturday, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh confirmed that India's strikes were solely aimed at military targets. Precision-guided weapons were launched from Indian fighter jets to ensure accuracy and avoid civilian casualties. The selected targets were part of a carefully planned operation designed to cripple Pakistan's aerial combat and surveillance capabilities.
India’s airstrikes were aimed at weakening Pakistan’s ability to carry out drone and fighter aircraft attacks. According to defence analysts, these operations could significantly impact Pakistan’s long-range strike and reconnaissance power. The choice of targets reflects India’s intent to send a strong message while avoiding unnecessary escalation.

India-Pakistan War: Key Airbases and Their Importance
Noor Khan Airbase (formerly Chaklala): Located in Rawalpindi, this base is the command hub for Pakistan’s air mobility operations. It houses Saab 2000 airborne early warning and control aircraft, which played a vital role in coordinating recent cross-border drone and missile attacks against India.
Rafiqui Airbase: Situated in Pakistan’s Punjab province, Rafiqui is home to advanced fighter squadrons including Mirage and JF-17 jets. It also serves as a training ground for aerial missions over Punjab and Kashmir. The base has reportedly been central to Pakistan’s aerial operations against India in recent times.
Murid Airbase: Also located in Punjab, Murid serves as the headquarters for Pakistan’s drone operations. It hosts indigenously developed Shahpar-1 drones along with Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2 and Akinci drones. Over the past few days, Pakistan has launched hundreds of drones across the border, mostly for surveillance. Most of these drones were intercepted and shot down by Indian air defence systems.
