Pakistan has announced that certain sections of its airspace over Karachi and Lahore will be temporarily closed for four hours daily throughout May, citing security concerns, according to media reports on Thursday.

The decision by Pakistan’s aviation authorities comes amid escalating tensions with India following the Pahalgam terror attack. Islamabad reportedly fears potential retaliatory action from New Delhi.

As per a notice quoted by The Express Tribune, the restricted airspace will be closed each day from 4:00 am to 8:00 am local time, between May 1 and May 31.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) stated that this airspace restriction is unlikely to cause major disruptions to commercial flights, as aircraft will be rerouted through alternate paths during the closure period.
