Pakistan On Operation Sindoor: As India attacked Pakistani terror outfits on Wednesday, the Pakistani Defence Minister said Islamabad will not escalate tensions in the conflict if New Delhi ceases its Operation Sindoor and other aggressive moves.

"We have been saying all along in the last fortnight that we’ll never initiate anything hostile towards India. But if we're attacked, we'll respond. If India backs down, we will definitely wrap up this tension," Pak Defence Minister Khawaja Asif told Bloomberg Television.

When asked by the host whether talks were possible, the minister replied that he was not aware of any such potential engagements.

India's Ministry of Defence said the action was in direct response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen. The ministry stated, "Our actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted."

Indian Armed Forces successfully struck nine terror targets, four in Pakistan, including Bahawalpur, Muridke, and Sialkot, and five in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), using special precision munitions in a coordinated operation, sources told ANI. The operation was jointly carried out by the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, with the mobilisation of assets and troops. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was constantly monitoring Operation Sindoor throughout the night, ANI reported citing its sources.

The strikes on all nine targets were successful, sources further revealed. The Indian forces selected the locations to target top Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) leaders involved in sponsoring terrorist activities in India.

On Wednesday, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that he is closely monitoring the situation between India and Pakistan, following Indian missile strikes on multiple sites in Pakistan. Rubio said he spoke with both Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Pakistani NSA. He urged both sides to keep lines of communication open and avoid escalation. In a statement shared on X, the US Department of State stated, "Earlier this afternoon, @SecRubio spoke to the national security advisors from India and Pakistan. He urged both to keep lines of communication open and avoid escalation."
