A Pakistani woman named Nikita Nagdev has publicly asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for justice after her husband, Vikram Nagdev, abandoned her in Pakistan and is now secretly planning a second marriage in Delhi. According to a video released by Nikita, she and Vikram were married on 26 January 2020 in Karachi, under Hindu-rite customs.
Vikram reportedly brought Nikita to India a month later, on 26 February 2020. But a few months later, on 9 July 2020, Vikram allegedly took her to the border at Attari border, citing “visa problems,” and sent her back to Karachi. From that point on, Nikita says he never tried to bring her back to India.
What Nikita claims went wrong after marriage
What she has done now-- appeal for justice and a second-marriage claim. After learning that Vikram is now preparing to marry a woman from Delhi, Nikita made a video from Karachi. She pleads that if no action is taken, it will discourage many women from believing in justice.

She later filed a formal complaint in January this year through a community-mediation group (panchayat) in Indore, asking them to intervene.
The mediation group, the Sindhi Panchayat in Indore, reviewed the case, and concluded that since neither Nikita nor Vikram are not Indian citizens, the matter falls under Pakistani jurisdiction. They recommended that Vikram be deported. After getting married and moving to India, Nikita says she realised Vikram was already having an affair, reportedly with one of her relatives. When she complained, her father-in-law allegedly dismissed her: “Boys have affairs — nothing can be done.”
She says that during the COVID-19 lockdown, Vikram forced her to leave India and return to Pakistan, and after that, he blocked any attempt by her to come back.
Why the case is complicated — legal and cross-border issues
As the marriage happened in Pakistan and both spouses are Pakistani nationals, Indian legal forums (courts or the mediation centre) may not have clear authority to enforce marital rights, according to the mediation centre’s report.
Meanwhile, the woman claims that her husband has violated both moral abandonment, infidelity and legal norms trying for a second wedding without divorce-- prompting her plea for intervention from higher authorities.
