In a counter-terrorism triumph, India's military eliminated several terrorists in a precise attack conducted on May 7 during the night hours. The cross-border operation named Operation Sindoor involved attacking nine terror outfits in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). These included launchpads used for infiltrating terrorists into Indian territory. India on Saturday released the names of Pakistani terrorists killed in Operation Sindoor on May 7. The list includes names five most wanted operatives from Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
Mudassar Khadian Khas Alias Abu Jundal
Mudassar Khadian Khas, who used the nicknames Mudassar and Abu Jundal, was a top Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist and the Markaz Taiba in-charge, which is the headquarters of the terror outfit in Muridke in Pakistan's Punjab province. He was at the core of strategising and masterminding attacks against India, and his killing is a huge blow to the leadership of Lashkar. According to the information and visuals from his funeral site, his funeral prayer was held in a government school and was led by Hafiz Abdul Rauf of Jamat-ud-Dawa (JuD), a designated global terrorist. Pakistan Army's serving Lt. General and the Punjab Police IG attended the prayer ceremony, highlighting the close relationship between the Pakistani establishment and terrorist organisations.
Hafiz Muhammed Jameel
Another high-priority target knocked out was Hafiz Muhammad Jameel, a top Jaish-e-Mohammed operator and the oldest brother-in-law of the founder of the organisation, Maulana Masood Azhar. He was the charge of Markaz Subhan Allah in Bahawalpur and a main operational activist in radicalizing youngsters and raising funds for JeM's terrorist activities. Jameel was a crucial player in establishing ideological support and operational capability for the organisation. His removal is likely to put a severe strain on JeM's recruitment and propaganda system.
Mohammad Yusuf Azhar alias Ustad Ji
Mohammad Yusuf Azhar, alias Ustad Ji, Mohd Salim, and Ghosi Sahab, was yet another high-ranking Jaish operative who was eliminated during Operation Sindoor. He was the brother-in-law of Masood Azhar and was deeply involved in training JeM cadres in weapon handling and guerrilla tactics. He was wanted accused in the notorious IC-814 hijack case, who had resulted in the release of Masood Azhar from the custody of the Indians in 1999. With the death of Yusuf Azhar comes the closure to a long period of a militant's career linked with Jammu and Kashmir terror attacks.
Khalid Alias Abu Akasha
Khalid, who used the alias Abu Akasha, was a senior Lashkar-e-Taiba leader involved in weapon smuggling from Afghanistan and coordinating several attacks in the Kashmir Valley. His operations consolidated Lashkar's weapons and ammunition supply chain, facilitating coordinated terror attacks in India. His funeral procession in Faisalabad, Pakistan, was also graced by senior Pakistani Army brass and the Deputy Commissioner, again highlighting the state's ongoing patronage of terrorism.

Mohammad Hassan Khan
The youngest of the high-value targets was Mohammad Hassan Khan, an emerging leader of Jaish-e-Mohammed and the son of Mufti Asghar Khan Kashmiri, JeM's operational commander in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Khan was a key planner of cross-border terror operations in Jammu and Kashmir, who emerged as a next-generation leader in the terror group. His killing is viewed as a serious setback to the group's leadership pipeline in the future.
Operation Sindoor has been termed as “measured, precise and intelligence-driven.” The operation demonstrated India’s precision and advanced military technology to dismantle terror infrastructure.
