Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (local time) arrived in Brazil on a four-day visit to participate in the 17th BRICS Summit and undertake a state visit. PM Modi landed at the Galeão International Airport on the fourth leg of his five-nation tour, which started on July 2. The prime minister will exchange his views on several key global issues during the 17th BRICS Leader's Summit. He is also likely to hold bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the BRICS summit. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi stated that he will later go to Brasilia, the capital city of Brazil, for a state visit on the invitation of the Brazilian President Lula Da Silva.

"Landed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where I will take part in the BRICS Summit and later go to their capital, Brasília, for a state visit on the invitation of President Lula. Hoping for a productive round of meetings and interactions during this visit," Modi stated in his post while sharing photos of his arrival.

Apart from this, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, in a post on X, stated that PM Modi is committed to the BRICS partnership.

"Committed to BRICS partnership! PM @narendramodi lands in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for the 17th BRICS Summit," Jaiswal said in his post. PM Modi was welcomed by the Indian and Brazilian artists who performed on the theme of Operation Sindoor.

The 17th BRICS Leaders' Summit will be held on July 6 and 7, where PM Modi will exchange views on several global issues, including peace and security, strengthening multilateralism, responsible use of artificial intelligence, climate action, global health, and economic and financial matters. The official statements suggest that the Prime Minister is also likely to hold several bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit.

PM Modi began his five-nation, eight-day tour (July 2 to July 9) on Wednesday from Ghana. From Ghana, the prime minister went to the Caribbean nation of Trinidad and Tobago and then to Argentina.
