He was arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail for possession of CSAM, according to BNO News.

The case marks a significant legal precedent as it is the first arrest by the Sacramento Valley Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force under California's new law. Authorities reported discovering 134 videos of child pornography, including AI-generated material, linked to an account owned and controlled by Darrin Bell. He was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning in 2019, further solidifying his reputation in the media industry. In compliance with California law, Bell's booking photo has not been made available to the public.
