Iran Israel War News:  Amid a looming threat of Israeli retaliation on Tehran, Russian President Putin reportedly warned Tel Aviv against attacking the nuclear facilities in Iran. The latest development followed a meeting of Vladimir Putin and his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian on Friday in Turkmenistan. Notably, the Israeli war cabinet, on October 10, finalised a response to Iran's missile barrage, which it launched after the death of Nasrallah, the chief of the Lebanese-based militant group Hezbollah.

Earlier on Friday, Sergei Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, reiterated a similar tone while speaking with the reporters in Laos PDR. Lavrov said that an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities would be seen as a "serious provocation".

“We prefer to be guided by facts. In almost every country, there are politicians and parliamentarians who express positions that do not reflect the practical strategy or actual policies of their governments. We’ve seen this many times before,” he said.

“If any plans or threats to attack the Islamic Republic of Iran's peaceful nuclear facilities are realized, it would indeed be a very serious provocation,” he said, as reported by Turkish media outlet Anadolu Agency.

Lavrov further condemned the West for fueling tensions in the Middle East by supporting Israel's aggressive stance.

Earlier in his meeting with Iranian President Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the conference in the Turkmen capital of Ashgabat, Putin hailed the ties between the two countries.

"We actively work together in the international arena, and our assessments of current events in the world are often very close," TASS cited Putin as telling Pezeshkian.

"Moscow strongly condemns the actions of Israeli forces. The Russian side is calling for an immediate cessation of hostile actions against UN peacekeepers who are carrying out their mission in Lebanon in accordance with the UN Security Council mandate," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
