Elizaveta Krivonogikh, widely rumoured to be the secret daughter of Russian President Vladimir Putin, has caused a new controversy with a mysterious post on social media, where she appeared to refer to her influential father as the man who "destroyed" her existence and "took millions of lives". Now living in Paris and based in the art industry, the 22-year-old posted the heartfelt message on her Telegram channel, as reported by The New York Post and German publication Bild. Her post has resurfaced controversies over her supposed relationship with the Kremlin leader. “It’s liberating to be able to show my face to the world again, It reminds me of who I am and who destroyed my life.” she wrote. Even though Putin's name did not appear in the message, the timing and tenor of the post, alongside her history, have generated intense media speculation.

Who Is Elizaveta Krivonogikh?

Krivonogikh, who was born in St. Petersburg in 2003, is thought to be the daughter of a housekeeper who is now a millionaire businesswoman, Svetlana Krivonogikh. In 2020, an explosive report by independent Russian investigative outlet Proekt uncovered her alleged connection to President Putin. The report referenced Elizaveta's "startling resemblance" to Putin and referred to the use of the patronymic "Vladimirovna", literally "daughter of Vladimir"in her full name. Although no father appears on her birth certificate, speculation has only intensified. The Kremlin has constantly denied the rumors as "unfounded and unconvincing".

Having been active on Instagram with the nickname Luiza Rozova, Elizaveta regularly posted photos of private aircraft, lavish parties, and luxurious holidays. Her account was, however, suddenly deactivated in early 2022, the same time that Russia invaded Ukraine, following widespread outrage and media attention. In a rare 2021 interview, she neither confirmed nor denied her biological ties to Putin but acknowledged the comparisons. She also described living in a “bubble” and avoiding the news for her mental well-being.

As reported by Russian artist Nastya Rodionova, Krivonogikh is now a manager of two Parisian art galleries specializing in the presentation of anti-war and progressive paintings. This change of career is a sharp departure from her previous one and suggests an ideological break with Russia's political elite. She has apparently taken on the name "Rudnova" in certain circles, a surname tied to Oleg Rudnov, a close Putin friend who passed away in 2015. Proekt's investigations also tied Svetlana Krivonogikh's properties to the network of Rudnov, fuelling speculation about a Kremlin link.

Mother's Wealth Under Global Lens

In February 2023, the British government sanctioned Svetlana Krivonogikh, listing her as a major shareholder in Bank Rossiya and the National Media Group, organizations blamed for supporting the Russian military campaign in Ukraine. Her accumulated wealth, as detailed in the Proekt report, has long been attributed to reported connections with the Russian President.

Krivonogikh's recent return to the social media scene has turned the world once again to Putin's personal life, a topic the Kremlin aggressively guards. Although her post does not name names, her assertion that there have been "millions of lives taken" has elicited strong links with Russian involvement in the war in Ukraine, further muddying her role as both a potential insider and vocal critic.
