  3. Coroner ruled death as a tragic misadventure

A 29-year-old Saudi Prince died after consuming a hazardous combination of drugs, alcohol, and anti-anxiety pills in a luxury hotel in London. The deceased, identified as Abdullah bin Fahad bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Jalawi Al Saud, was found in a room at the JW Marriott on November 24, after he suffered a cardiac arrest. The reports said that Prince Abdullah checked into a 600-euro hotel room on November 19 for a week-long stay.

The Prince was last captured in the CCTV footage when he stepped out for smoking a cigarette shortly before his death. The footage later worked as a key source of evidence, proving that no third person was involved in the death.

How Was The Death Revealed?

The next day, a hotel staff member entering his room on the fifth floor discovered him lying motionless on the bathroom floor.  The cleaner then alerted the emergency services, but the medical professional was unsuccessful in reviving him. The 29-year-old prince was then declared dead on the scene.

Shocking Toxicology Report

The coroner stated that the toxicology report of Price Abdullah had a blood alcohol concentration of 222 mg per 100 mg per 100 ml of blood. The amount is almost three times higher than the prescribed limit in England's drunk driving law. Experts claimed that the alcohol level was enough to send a person into a coma.

The investigators said Prince Abdullah’s blood contained potentially fatal levels of gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB), commonly known as a party drug, along with traces of cannabis, Xanax, and other antianxiety medications in therapeutic quantities. Medical experts concluded that the combination of substances led to cardiac arrest and ultimately caused his death.

Prince Abdullah Was an Addict

The court concluded that the Saudi Arabian prince was a drug and alcohol addict and went to the Priory clinic in Roehampton in August 2025 to detoxify from alcohol, benzodiazepines, and pregabalin. A psychiatrist from the clinic claimed that the Prince had positively given to the treatment, displayed symptoms of anxiety and low mood on admission, and completed the detox program without physical complications. Although he later missed scheduled follow-up appointments. There were no signs of self-harm when he was discharged.

Death Was A Misadventure

Assistant Coroner Jean Harkin concluded there was no evidence that the prince intended to commit suicide. The court heard there was no suicide note, no indication that he had expressed suicidal thoughts, and no evidence of third-party involvement. CCTV footage also showed him alone during the final hours before his death.

Delivering the final verdict, Coroner Harkin said that the death was caused as a result of misadventure, extending condolences to his family.
